I have fished with Michael on three different trips to Roatan. Going out in his boat at sunrise, heading east towards the flats where we are the only fisherman I see for six hours, is a memory and feeling which I use often to happily drift into sleep back in Texas. Everything people say about him being patient and incredibly gifted at seeing the fish when nobody else can see them, is accurate! On one trip we took wives that had never fly fished before and he did an excellent job helping them catch Bonefish. Another trip it was my best friend with me. He thought he preferred scuba over fishing, but now he understands my fly fishing addiction and will join me anytime. My most favorite trips are the ones with just with Michael and me. He is so attentive when you want help and need help. But he is completely quiet and hands off when you’re in the zone and nobody even whispers until it’s fish on chaos. . I can’t imagine finding another guide that I like as much as him on any fishing waters that compare to the east end flats.

My son and I arrived in Roatan on a cruise ship. Michael was able to arrange time in his busy schedule to try to get us on some tailing fish. The day started with tarpon on fly just as Michael said would happen. For the rest of the day, every flat that we pulled up to had tails sticking high out of the water. We ended up catching great sized bonefish and having shot on permit. I have fished all over Florida, the keys, and the Bahamas and have never had a trip like I did with Michael. He was so patient with my son who had never caught a bonefish on fly before. We made a day of memories and can’t wait to come back and fish for a whole week next time. Thanks again Michael for such an incredible time on the water and looking forward to our next trip.

The highlight of our trip was feeding the tarpon and the mangrove tour. Michael is incredible with families and kids. The East End is a hidden gem!

Michael - I have to say you are hands-down the best fishing guide I have had the pleasure of fishing with. My goal was to see a Permit and maybe have a chance to cast at a few of them...you destroyed that goal within 30min of the first day, when we landed my first permit on the fly!!! I did not think there was a way to top that..I did not expect to hit a GRAND SLAM later that afternoon on Day 1!! And then another couple of permit the next morning...insanity! I had an absolute blast. You are a wonderful, patient teacher with a great sense of humour. I can't wait to be back my friend!
